Chinese Steak Pie

 Steak Pie is a kind of snack which has long history in China. It originated from Tang Dynasty and only served for royal families at that time. Gradually, common people started to eat the steak pie and it became very popular among the people. Because  it not only tastes very good but also easy to give people the feeling of fulness. In the north of China, most of people regard this kind of pie as their main course. Actually, the  minced beef inside can be replaced by minced pork,  pickled vegetable etc, it depends on what you like.  

The outside of steak pie is very crispy because it is fried in the oil but the inside is soft. It tastes salty and a little bit spicy because I put some white pepper into the minced beef. For some foreigners who have not eaten this before, the taste can be described as a special Pizza.  Hope the describition can arise your interesting to this steak pie.

There are about 12 steak pies can be made and all the ingredients can be bought in any Chinese Supermarket.

 Making Process:

1 Mix the baking powder and milk, pull the mixed milk into flour, firstly use tool such as chopsticks to stir the flour, then use hands to  kneading dough again and again until the surface of dough is smooth, next step is put a cloth on the top of dough to avoid it becoming dry. Finally put the dough at a warming palace and waiting it ferment to double size.

2 Chop the ginger and put it in a bowl, then add 50 ml hot water into the bowl, make it becomes ginger sauce; put the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, chicken flavor, white pepper and the ginger sauce, oil into the minced beef, stir them; wash the scallion and chop them, put them into the minced beef and stir equably.

3 Fried the minced beef, if there is some sauce in the pan, pour it, because the beef need to be dry.

4 Cut the large dough into 11 small doughs, compress one small dough into a circle with a rolling pin, put some minced beef in the center of the round dough and use right hand to stick the edge of dough together.

5  Use rolling pin to flatten the dough with stuff inside, heat the pan, pull some oil and fry the steak pie, if you like egg, you can fry an egg when the pie almost  be done, then put the pie on the egg, the taste will be mush more delicious and different.
